NBA veteran guard Patrick Beverley is embarking on a new adventure. Beverley revealed in a recent social media post that he signed a deal with Israel’s Hapoel Tel Aviv BC.
“They gave me everything I asked for… I couldn’t refuse,” said Beverley about the move.
Beverley started the 2023-24 campaign with the Philadelphia 76ers before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a move that reunited him with his former Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers. He played a total of 73 games last season, averaging 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
After becoming a free agent and remaining on the market longer than he expected, Beverley started considering other options. He recently revealed on social media that he is weighing between playing on veteran’s minimum in the NBA or going back overseas.
Patrick Beverley started his professional career overseas, signing with BC Dnipro in 2008. He then played for Olympiacos and Spartak St. Petersburg before finally getting a chance in the NBA, thanks to the Houston Rockets. While in the NBA, Beverley established himself as a defensive specialist. He earned an NBA All-Defensive First Team nod in 2017 while also being selected to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team twice.
Hapoel Tel Aviv BC is the second most-accomplished Israeli basketball club, having won five national titles. It finished second in the Israeli Basketball Premier League in 2023-24 while reaching the quarterfinals in League Cup and EuroCup.
