NBA Veteran Boris Diaw Retires from Basketball

French forward Boris Diaw, who spent 14 years in NBA, is retiring from basketball. Diaw announced his decision in an interesting way, posting a YouTube video which shows him on a boat alongside his former teammates from France national team, Ronny Turiaf and Tony Parker.

I feel happy when I look back at my career,” – says Diaw in the video. “I did what I had to do. And I don’t see this as a retirement but the beginning of a new life.

Diaw spent the last season playing in his native France for Levallois Metropolitans, averaging 11.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game in all competitions.

Atlanta Hawks took Boris Diaw with the 21st selection in 2003 NBA Draft. After two years in Atlanta, Diaw was traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2005, winning an NBA Most Improved Player Award during his time with the team. Following a stint with Charlotte Bobcats, he settled with San Antonio Spurs in 2012 where he played his best basketball and won the NBA Championship two years later.

Diaw’s last NBA season came in 2016-17 when he played for Utah Jazz. In his 14 years in the NBA, he averaged 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.
