After getting a quick glimpse of the NBA teams in regular-season action, we’re starting to get a taste regarding how far they’ll go. Granted, it’s still incredibly early, but that doesn’t mean we can’t create some good-fashioned first-week power rankings. Here’s how we’ve ranked the top five.

5. Philadelphia 76ers

Over the last few seasons, the Sixers have flirted with being the best team in the East, but have yet to officially take the plunge. Will this be the year that Embiid and Simmons find their perfect chemistry?

4. Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown proved that they were playoff-quality players when they were but mere rookies. Now they’ve got more experience in the league, and have been joined by All-Star veteran Kemba Walker. Look for them to make a strong push.

3. Milwaukee Bucks

Although their start to the season was shaky, they dominated the Warriors in a 39-point deficit. They still need to prove themselves in the playoffs, but from a regular perspective? They were a juggernaut last season, and Giannis has only gotten better.

2. Brooklyn Nets

With Kevin Durant back from his injury and Kyrie Irving looking strong, look for the Nets to come out hot this season. Durant will also have a vengeance to prove that he can do it on his own, in response to the naysayers who attributed his previous title success to him being with Golden State.

  1. Los Angeles Lakers

The defending champions only improved in the offseason, and they’re looking quite formidable already. With commanding victories over Dallas and Minnesota, look for LeBron and the Lakers to hold their throne—or at least give any challenger a run for their money.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
