The NBA and Formula 1 have recently announced a content and promotion partnership between the two organizations. This comes as the NBA celebrates its 75th anniversary while Formula 1 marks its return to the United States at the 2021 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix on Sunday, October 24th in Austin, Texas.

As a celebration of both feats as well as the new partnership, images of Formula 1 cars in NBA team custom liveries were released on social media. All 30 NBA teams will be represented in this campaign, with the images for the first 10 cars representing Central and Pacific Divisions being released on Wednesday.

The promotional campaign continued on Thursday as ESPN hosted an event whereby Formula 1 drivers performed a free throw challenge on an NBA’s 75th anniversary-themed half-court. With professional NBA players available to provide drivers with free-throwing tips, up to $20,000 for charity was up for grabs.

This partnership with Formula 1 is expected to provide a major boost to the NBA’s goal of expanding its international viewership. Currently, NBA programming is available in 215 countries and broadcast in over 50 languages.
