Major League Soccer teams might have to wait a bit longer for their chance to bring Pedro to North America. According to Spanish winger, he would like to remain with Chelsea even though his contract with the club expires in the summer.

Pedro recently had a chat with Chelsea’s official website and said that his future with the Premier League side is up in the air.

“As many people know, my contract is up in May,” said Pedro. “But I still haven’t spoken to the club about whether or not it will be renewed and whether I’ll carry on.”

If it was up to the 31-year-old, he would prefer to continue his career on Stamford Bridge.

“I belong to Chelsea. I have a contract. My wish is to be able to stay here but obviously we don’t know what will happen. I have to speak to the club and let’s see what happens,”  he added.

Earlier this year, Inter Miami and NYCFC reportedly made offers to Pedro, hoping to jump ahead of the competition and try to lure the Spaniard to MLS. Clubs from Spain and China are also interested in the player and are probably paying close attention to his negotiations with Chelsea.

Despite being regular in the starting 11 in recent years, Pedro’s playing time diminished this season. He only made nine appearances in the national competition, scoring one goal and contributing with one assist.
