Minnesota United is making some roster changes after a first-round exit from the MLS Cup playoffs this season. One of them is reportedly parting ways with the franchise’s first designated player Darwin Quintero.

According to The Athletic, Minnesota has made Quintero available for trade as they are looking to reconfigure their attack. The 32-year-old Colombian has reportedly fallen out of favor with head coach Adrian Heath, while the team would welcome another DP spot.

Quintero played well this season, starting 26 games and contributing with 10 goals and five assists. He is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, but Minnesota can pick up a $2 million option on his deal, keeping him under contract through 2020.

Darwin Quintero, who spent the majority of his professional career playing in Mexico, joined Minnesota United in 2018 ahead of the team’s inaugural MLS season. Quintero’s rookie year in the U.S. saw him score 11 goals and provide 15 assists while earning an All-Star appearance.

If Minnesota manages to offload Quintero, they would like to bring Orlando City’s striker Dom Dwyer. According to sources, Dwyer is Heath’s choice, as the two previously collaborated in Orlando.
