Mike Hoffman Receiving “Bargain City” Offers so Far

Veteran forward Mike Hoffman entered the offseason as the best goalscorer available in the free agency. However, three weeks into the process and Hoffman is still unsigned.

According to The Athletic’s Pierre Lebrun, the reason why Hoffman still hasn’t landed with a team is “bargain city” offers he has been receiving so far. This included one-year deals worth “between $3.5 and 4.5 million,” something that the 30-year-old scorer isn’t willing to entertain.

Hoffman’s agent Robert Hooper told Lebraun that “five or six” teams are really interested in his client but that they haven’t backed that interest with real actions. Until they do, his client will stay put and patiently consider his options.

“Very patient,” Hooper added when asked about Hoffman’s mindset at this point in the free agency. “Mike has been one of the most consistent goal scorers the last six seasons, and the last two were his best. More importantly, Mike, like every great scorer is willing to be patient and look for the right opportunity.”

Mike Hoffman has been productive throughout most of his NHL career, which saw him suit up for Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers. He was especially prolific in the past two seasons when he scored 65 goals and added 64 assists in just 151 games he played.

Overall, Hoffman has 359 points (172 goals and 187 assists) in 493 career games in NHL.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
