Newcastle United’s midfielder Miguel Almiron will be out for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury, the team has announced on Wednesday. According to Newcastle’s statement, Almiron over the weekend in Premier League clash against Southampton.
“Miguel Almiron will miss the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Southampton,” – the team said in a statement. “The 25-year-old was withdrawn in the 64th minute against the Saints and having been assessed by the club’s medical staff, it has been confirmed that he will not be fit for the Magpies’ final three matches of the campaign.”
Almiron joined Newcastle in January 2019 after spending the previous two years in MLS with Atlanta United. Since then he played 10 games in England but failed to make a contribution via goals or assists.
The hamstring injury puts Miguel Almiron in danger of missing upcoming Copa America with the Paraguay national team. The competition starts on June 14, which gives the 25-year-old just over a month to make a full recovery. He represented Paraguay 14 times so far.
