Inter Miami could get another Mexican international on their roster soon. During a recent Q&A on Instagram, Monterrey left-back Miguel Layun expressed interest in joining David Beckham-owned club.

Layun told his social media followers that he wouldn’t mind joining compatriot Rodolfo Pizarro in MLS and that he is attracted to Inter due to Beckham’s presence.

“I would like to play for Inter Miami because David Beckham is there,” said Layun. “I’m his fan and I would like to meet him and be able to share with him.”

Layun, who turns 32 in June, acknowledged his playing days will soon be over and explained that retiring in United States would be a dream move.

“I would like to retire in Monterrey or at America,” he added. “They are the only two places I want to dream that I am going to retire, but I do not know, maybe life still takes me to a different place.”

Miguel Layun spent a significant part of his professional career in Europe, where he played with Atalanta, Watford, Sevilla, Porto, and Villareal. He made the biggest impact with Porto, where he made 79 appearances and scored 11 goals while winning one national title with the club.

Layun joined Monterrey in January 2019, rejecting clubs like Celta Vigo and Milan in order to return to his native country.
