After an impressive 2019/20 seasons with Wolverhampton Wanderers, striker Raul Jimenez is being linked with several top clubs in Europe like Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona. However, Mexico’s national team boss Gerardo “Tata” Martino believes Jimenez should stay in the Premier League and join Manchester United.

According to Martino, Man Utd lacks a true “No.9” player up front, and Jimenez would fit perfectly at Old Trafford.

“Looking at it from the outside today I cannot see a specialist No. 9 like Raul at United,” said Martino during a chat on ESPN’s Futbol Picante. “There are many forwards like [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial and the boy who now plays as right winger: [Mason] Greenwood but since Romelu Lukaku left I can’t see a pure No. 9 like Raul.”

Jimenez emerged as a key player for Wolverhampton in the past couple of seasons and is one of the main reasons for the club’s fine form in 2019/20. The 29-year-old Mexican scored 24 goals and added 10 assists in all competitions.

Jimenez has also been prolific for the Mexican national team recently, fitting perfectly into Martino’s system. 2019 was especially a good year for him in Mexico jersey, as he scored impressive eight goals in just 12 matches.

It remains to be seen whether Raul Jimenez ends up listening to Martino, or decides to try his luck in other leagues. There is also a chance that Jimenez might decide to stay with the Wolves, especially if the club manages to get the Champions League spot by the end of the season.
