After a decade of participating in European soccer, Mexican star Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez has decided to come back to North America to continue his professional career.

Chicharito, who joined La Liga side Sevilla last summer for an $8 million fee, is on the move yet again, joining the MLS’s LA Galaxy in a move that has sent shockwaves across the league.

The 31-year-old forward is one of Mexico’s most popular and recognizable talents, and his signing for a team in Los Angeles, a place with a huge Mexican-American community, will immediately make him a massive draw for the club.

In addition, he is set to face off with fellow Mexican superstar Carlos Vela, who stars for cross-town rival LAFC, on a regular basis.

Chicharito made the move to Europe from Chivas in 2010, signing for English giants Manchester United. He scored 37 goals for the team in 4 seasons, spending a year on loan at Real Madrid.

After that, he spent two year stints at Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham United, where he was a semi-regular fixture in the starting lineups at the German and English clubs.

Now, Chicharito will take stage as one of Major League Soccer’s most popular and recognizable faces and attempt to left the hole left behind in the LA Galaxy squad after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure.
