Leo Messi found the back of the net once again on Tuesday night, leading his team to a 2-0 victory over CD Leganes to keep them at the top of the La Liga table.

Barcelona went into the night as heavy favorites against Leganés, which finds itself in the last place in the standings and a heavy favorite for relegation. While the Blaugrana didn’t give its best performance, it did enough to secure a relatively stress-free win.

Leganés came out as arguably the stronger side, threatening Barcelona with a pair of shots in the first 15 minutes of the match.

After that, however, the Cules began to dominate. Wunderkind Ansu Fati scored his fifth goal of the season to put his team up 1-0 in the 42nd minute, just before the break.

In the second half, Barcelona continued to control the match and doubled its lead after Leganés committed a penalty against Leo Messi. The Argentinian superstar scored it easily, and the match finished with a 2-0 tally.

Their win gives Barcelona a five-point advantage over Real Madrid, which could shrink to two points if Los Blancos are able to beat Valencia at home on Thursday night.

Barcelona will Sevilla on Friday night in what promises to be a tough test for Quique Setien’s side.
