Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi is finally off Inter Milan’s hands. Icardi joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan, while the French giants also get an option to make the move permanent for a reported $76.5 million.

Both teams confirmed the deal on their respective social media accounts.

After falling out with Inter’s supporters and staff, Icardi found himself an unwanted man around the team. The club tried to sell him on multiple occasions, but the 26-year-old refused proposed moves in order to try and rebuild his reputation in Milan.

Still, after seeing he wasn’t in the plans of new coach Antonio Conte, Mauro Icardi caved in and blessed the move to France. Prior to the move, he also signed a new contract with the team so Inter could demand compensation for a permanent move next summer.

“I’d like to thank Paris Saint-Germain for the confidence they have shown in me,” – said Icardi after arriving in Paris. “I will give everything to help my new team go as far as possible in all competitions.”

Icardi joined inter in 2013 from Sampdoria and quickly established himself as one of the team’s key players. He played a total of 219 games with the club and scored 124 goals in the process while also serving as the squad’s captain at one point. Still, his off-the-field behavior was deemed unacceptable by the coaches and front office, and he was ultimately shown out.

PSG was on the market for a striker in the last couple of weeks, with both Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe suffering injuries that will keep them out for a prolonged period of time. Now with Icardi on board, they shouldn’t miss a step until the duo comes back.
