Maurizio Sarri’s stint with Chelsea is coming to an end after just one season.

According to several reports, Sarri will leave the Premier League powerhouse and return to Italy in order to take over Juventus.

While Sarri was linked with Juventus for some time now, it was unclear whether he can get out of his contract with Chelsea. The London club was demanding to be compensated for releasing the manager while Juve hoped to avoid this. Still, after a week of negotiations, Seria A side agreed to pay around $6 million in order to get their guy.

Maurizio Sarri managed to win the Europa League and earned third spot in Premier League in his lone season with Chelsea, but despite this success, he wasn’t a popular figure in London. This is why he jumped on the opportunity to make a Seria A return when Juventus parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri at the end of the season.

Chelsea didn’t try to hold onto Sarri too much as they already identified his replacement. Reportedly, the club will bring club legend Frank Lampard, who spent the previous year as Derby County’s manager.
