In early 2019, after many Barcelona players were forced to sit out the season due to serious injuries, the team was given special permission by La Liga to acquire players outside the transfer window. In the emergency transfer, Barca got Danish forward Martin Braithwaite in a move that was great for the team and the player.

In a recent interview for Goal.com, Braithwaite spoke about the transfer to Camp Nou and what it’s meant to him. “I felt really proud and patted myself on the back,” he said. “I said to myself that the hard work was paying off, and it gave me even more motivation to push the limits on what I can do in my career.”

Since playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, things have changed for Braithwaite. “A lot of things changed because now I am in the biggest club in the world so people look at you differently and recognize you more because my face is now more familiar. Beyond football, it changed a little bit but, in the end, football is still football,” he continued.

Martin Braithwaite has gained a reputation for being a solid striker over the course of this career, which makes him a good option for middle-tier clubs. Before joining Leganes in 2018, the player was with his native Denmark, France, and England. During his time with Leganes, in 24 games he scored eight goals, which sparked Barca’s interest in him.

With Barcelona, Braithwaite has made three appearances, but hasn’t scored any goals. He has a four-year contract with the Catalan giant which will give him plenty of time to earn his spot on the team.
