While it was an underwhelming round of action for Manchester United following a frustrating 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, Man United forward Anthony Martial enjoyed a warm reception following his 50th goal for the club after a superb strike against Wolves in the 27th minute of the game.

The Red Devils’ number 9 has begun the new season in fine form, having also scored in United’s Premier League opener against Chelsea. This puts him in a tied fourth place on the top scorers’ charts alongside fellow teammate Marcus Rashford, who scored a brace against the Blues.

Having arrived at Manchester United from AS Monaco in 2015, Martial enjoyed an impressive first season at the club, making 31 league appearances and scoring on 11 occasions.

2016 and 2017 were tougher years for the French international, who seemed to fall out of favor with then-manager Jose Mourinho. Not only did Martial only manage four league goals in the 2016/17 season, but the arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Everton meant more competition for a spot in the starting 11.

Fortunately, Martial was able to turn his fortunes around last season, with 10 league goals and three assists. He also enjoyed a run of six goals in five games. Since then, his improved form has boosted his standing with pundits and fans alike, as he looks for his next piece of silverware with the English giants.
