People really love a good underdog story and Las Vegas gave us a new one this weekend. Manny Pacquiao managed to beat the WBA Super champion Keith Thurman, becoming the welterweight champion.

With this victory, Pacquiao became the oldest man to claim this title. Thurman was undefeated so far and he said that he’ll send the 40-year-old fighter into his retirement but to everyone’s surprise he left the ring defeated.

The Filipino started the fight really well, knocking down Thurman in the opening round with a strong right hook. They continued a stunning and fierce struggle that lasted 12 rounds with both of the boxers showing great skills and determination. Finally, the boxing match ended with Pacquiao’s victory after the two judges gave 115-112 for Pacquiao and one gave 114-113 for Thurman.

During his long and really prosperous career, Pacquiao has fought 71 fights, including his last, and he has lost only seven of those fights. After the match, he said he thinks he will fight next year as well.

Thurman is 10 years younger than his opponent and he had 29 victories so far, going for his 30th.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
