Despite only joining Manchester United this past summer, forward Joshua Zirkzee already wants to leave the Premier League side.
According to a recent report by Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Zirkzee is unhappy at Old Trafford and would welcome a return to Italy. Zirkzee played for Seria A side Bologna before joining Man United in a £36.5 million ($47.4 million) transfer in July.
Zirkzee scored a goal in his Premier League debut in a 1-0 win over Fulham but has since failed to find the mark. The goalscoring drought, which now extends to 10 games, resulted in the Netherlands international losing his place in the starting lineup.
Reportedly, Zirkzee would be open to leaving Man United in January, but there doesn’t seem to be much interest in his services among his former suitors. AC Milan was aggressive in attempts to secure his signature over the summer but won’t pursue him again. Juventus, on the other hand, might be more open to welcoming Zirkzee, but only under the right conditions.
It is also unclear whether Manchester United would be willing to give up a high-priced player so quickly. Despite not playing Zirkzee often, head coach Erik ten Hag appreciates the depth he offers to the roster and might only sanction his exit if a replacement is signed.
