David de Gea is rightfully considered one of the most successful goalkeepers in the history of European football and as such, many clubs have tried to recruit this legendary player into their ranks. His fate and future were things that were often rumored during this summer’s transfer season, especially after the last offer his current club Manchester United made in July.

Now finally the negotiations that lasted for almost 2 years are finished and the goalkeeper put pen to paper on a new contract with Manchester United. The 28-year-old De Gea signed a five-year-long contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2023 and the contract has a special clause that will allow him to extend it for one more season.

De Gea said that with his future being fixed, all he wants is to help his team achieve what he believes they can and win trophies again together. He added that the opportunity to continue his career at Manchester United was a genuine honor.

The Spaniard joined Manchester United back in 2011 from the La Liga club Atletico Madrid and has made more than 350 appearances wearing the Red Devils jersey.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
