Struggles in front of the goal have been one of the reasons why Manchester United has played so disappointingly in 2023-24. The club’s new front office is now expected to address the issue in the summer transfer window with the acquisition of Brentford’s striker Ivan Toney.

Toney has been one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea previously being interested in acquiring him. However, according to reports from English media, United has now emerged as a favorite for Toney’s signature and is currently working on closing the deal sooner rather than later.

In 2022-23, Toney was one of the best players in the league, scoring 20 goals and adding four assists. After a suspension held him off the field for most of the 2023-24 season, Toney returned in March and has scored four goals and added one assist as he’s shaking off the rust after not playing for eight months.

Brentford previously valued Toney at more than £100 million, but it is believed they are now ready to take a lot less, considering his contract will expire in the summer of 2025. Reportedly, a bid of £40 million in the summer would be enough for Brentford to let Toney go.

Toney joined Brentford in 2020, when the club played in the Championship. He has scored a total of 72 goals and dished 22 assists since. Toney previously also suited up for several lower-league clubs like Peterborough, Northampton, and Wigan.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
