Manchester City are Premier League champions once again. Thanks to Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest and their own 1-0 win over Chelsea over the weekend, City secured the league trophy despite having two more games to play in the 2022-23 season.

This marks City’s third straight Premier League title and ninth in club history.

City had a sluggish start of the campaign that saw them trail leaders Arsenal by 12 points midway through 2022-23. However, Pep Guardiola’s side went on a tear in the second part of the season while the London club lost momentum.

Manchester City’s last loss in the Premier League was in early February when Tottenham beat them 1-0. Since then, City has won 13 out of their 14 games and is currently riding an 11-game winning streak.

“The Premier League is, without doubt, the most demanding and competitive league in the world, so that tells you everything about what an achievement this is,” said City’s captain Ilkay Gundogan. “This squad is so talented and so special, and to have been captain this season has been an enormous privilege.”

Manchester City will now turn their focus on the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup. They are playing in the finals of both competitions and can become the first English club since Manchester United in 1999 to win the treble.
