According to multiple sources, Manchester United has their eyes set on Antonio Conte as a potential replacement for current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Following the Red Devils’ embarrassing 5-0 loss to Liverpool on the weekend, Solskjaer’s job security looks even more uncertain.

It has been reported that much of the Man Utd squad had lost faith in Solskjaer’s ability to lead the club even before the loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford. Other disappointing results include a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at home along with a shock 2-1 defeat to BSC Young Boys in the Champions League.

Initially appointed as interim manager of the club following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal in December 2018, Solksjaer was awarded the position of manager after an impressive run of results. Since the 48-year-old’s appointment, however, the Red Devils have been unable to win any major trophies.

While believed to be a popular figure in the dressing room, Solskjaer has been put under fire due to a range of controversies, including the team’s poor defensive performances this season and the refusal to hand playing opportunities to the likes of Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic.
