A second round of offers for the purchase of Manchester United got underway last week, with public bidders including the likes of Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and Thomas Zilliacus submitting revised offers for the purchase of the club.

Sources have confirmed that while the submitted bids were lower than what the Glazers, who currently own a majority stake in the club, had hoped for, the sale of the club is likely to proceed.

Bids from the likes of Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe are believed to be above their initial bids in the region of £4.5 billion, however, they remain lower than the Glazers’ asking price of £6 billion. Now, the Glazers are expected to accept a compromise fee that will allow the takeover of the club.

Following the latest round of bids, bidders are awaiting feedback from the Raine Group, the U.S. bank that has been tasked with facilitating the sale process. Manchester United staff have been notified that they can expect an answer regarding the future of the club by the end of the season.
