Ralf Rangnick already has a new job waiting for him after he finishes his stint as an interim manager of Premier League giants Manchester United. Rangnick is set to venture to the international stage, having accepted the offer to become the head coach of Austria’s national team.

Rangnick received a deal that runs through 2024, according to the official announcement made by the Austrian Football Association (OFB) on Friday.

Rangnick is expected to fulfill his two-year consultancy role with Man Utd that starts next season despite taking a new job.

“I will take over as national team manager of Austria at the end of the season but will continue my consultancy with Manchester United,” Rangnick said. “I’m really looking forward to playing my part in helping United become a real force again.”

Manchester United hired Ralf Rangnick on interim basis in November after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskajer. As part of the agreement, United also offered Rangnick a consultancy role after his stint finishes. However, it is still unclear what this role will be or how much input Rangnick will have.

Austria needed a new head coach after parting with Franco Foda following unsuccessful qualifications for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. They are scheduled to play their first game under a new manager in June when they are set to participate in the UEFA Nations League.
