It appears that Manchester United is ready to quit its attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund’s star winger Jadon Sancho. With Dortmund holding out to their $140 evaluation of the England international, Man Utd reportedly shifted their focus to Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and Sevilla’s Lucas Ocampos.

According to ESPN, United have grown frustrated by the inability to make a breakthrough in Sancho talks while also being aware that they are running out of time to secure a badly needed roster upgrade before the English Premier League transfer window closes on October 5. With this in mind, the club contacted Barcelona to inquire about the availability of Dembele.

United is reportedly willing to pay around $60 million to bring Ousmane Dembele, while Barca is asking for more considering that they have paid more than $130 million the French international. Despite this, two clubs are optimistic about the potential deal, while the player also got on board with the move following initial reluctance to leave Camp Nou.

ESPN reports that Dembele isn’t the only target for Man Utd, as the English club also did their homework on Ocampos. The 26-year-old Argentinian had an impressive year, helping Sevilla to win Europa League and United believes he could be a good fit for the Premier League style of football.

The acquisition of Lucas Ocampos is also attractive to Manchester United because he would be by far the cheapest option out of their preferred targets. Various sources close to Sevilla indicated that the La Liga side would be content with a transfer fee of around $45 million to let Ocampos go.

Knowing United’s habit of making last-minute deals, it is safe to say that neither option is off the table and that we are in for an exciting couple of days.
