Despite securing a €70 million deal for Real Madrid’s midfielder Casemiro, Manchester United continues to be aggressive in the transfer market. According to ESPN, the Premier League powerhouse sent out a new bid for Ajax’s forward Antony, but their €90 million proposal got rejected by the Dutch side.

Man Utd has been pursuing Antony for the better part of the summer, with new manager Erik ten Hag eager to reunite with the Brazilian. They saw several bids rejected previously, including an €80 million offer in early August. The club hoped another €10 million would be enough to change Ajax’s mind, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Reportedly, United is now considering whether to make an even higher bid or to turn to other targets. Some other names the club has been interested in include Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic and PSV’s Cody Gakpo.

Antony himself is also trying to push the move through, having told reporter Fabrizio Romano that he asked the club to let him go.

“Today, in a meeting with the club, I expressed my old interest in leaving, only this time with a considerable offer on the table,” said Antony. “Others had already arrived! Ajax refused with the argument that they only have five days to replace me. “

Antony has played 82 games for Ajax since arriving in the Netherlands in early 2020. He scored 25 goals while helping the club win two domestic titles.
