Manchester United expect striker Anthony Martial to depart the club in the summer. While discussions between the club and the player’s representatives have taken place, sources claim that such talks are unlikely to result in a new contract. Should this be the case, Martial would leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed that the club decided not to activate an extension to Martial’s contract which would keep the striker at the club until June 2025. The player has constantly been ruled out of action through injury, with the player being unavailable over the last month due to illness.

Since arriving at Old Trafford from Monaco in 2015, Martial has scored 90 goals in 317 games. While the club appears unwilling to negotiate terms for a new contract with Martial, the same cannot be said for defender Raphael Varane, whose contract runs out in the summer as well. Although United have decided against activating his contract extension, the club are open to negotiating a new contract with the player on reduced terms.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
