Manchester City announced on Friday that the club signed Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez to a new contract extension. Mahrez inked a two-year deal that will now keep him at Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2025.

The financial details of the deal remained undisclosed, but it is expected that Mahrez received a slight bump on his £120,000 per week salary.

Speaking for the club’s official website, Mahrez shared his excitement about a new deal and the chance to prolong his stay with City.

“I have enjoyed every single minute of my time here. It’s a pleasure to be part of such an incredible club,” said Mahrez. “To have helped us achieve the success we have enjoyed in the past four seasons has been unforgettable and made us all hungry to look to achieve even more.”

While Mahrez was linked with Man City exit in the past, it appears that the club wasn’t ready to give up on two of its star wingers this summer. City already parted ways with Raheem Sterling earlier this month, with England international joining Chelsea.

Mahrez joined Man City in a £60 million transfer in 2018. Since then, he has helped the club with three Premier League titles while scoring 63 goals and adding 45 assists in 188 appearances in all competitions.
