Manchester City and Real Madrid are both believed to be in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham during the summer transfer window, sources revealed on Wednesday. This news comes after Liverpool revealed its intention to drop out of the race to lure Bellingham to Anfield.

While Real Madrid is confident that they can sign Bellingham, it is Man City who is believed to be the favorite to land Bellingham’s signature. With doubts over the long-term futures of current City midfielders Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan, the Premier League giants now seem intent on securing the services of the 19-year-old Bellingham in order to bolster their talent over the long term.

Bellingham’s price tag is expected to be north of £130 million, and while City seems willing to fork out the cash required for the Englishman, Dortmund is looking to ideally hold onto the talented teenager for one more season.

City has emerged as the favorite to sign Bellingham not only because of its financial capacity but also because of the team’s past dealings with Dortmund. The Bundesliga club was particularly impressed with the eagerness that City expressed when completing the signing of Erling Haaland during the previous summer, with a deal in principle announced in May before the transfer window opened.
