Manchester City defeated local rivals Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday to edge one step closer to securing a historic treble. The last team to win the treble was Manchester United in 1999.

City captain Ilkay Gundogan handed his team a dream start, scoring the fastest-ever goal in the FA Cup final after just 12 seconds of play. While Man City continued to dominate proceedings throughout the first half, Man Utd drew level courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes penalty in the 33rd minute of play.

Just seven minutes into the second half, Gundogan restored City’s lead, scoring from yet another well-timed volley. Despite a flurry of attacks by Man Utd near the death, City held on to secure their second trophy of the season, having wrapped up the Premier League title just over two weeks ago.

Now with two titles under their belt, Pep Guardiola’s squad will look to complete the treble as they face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final next Saturday.
