Los Angeles Lakers Have Chosen Next Head Coach, Sources Claim

The Los Angeles Lakers have selected Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham as their next head coach, multiple sources have reported. According to reports, Ham received a four-year contract offer on Friday after impressing Lakers officials during an interview on Thursday. In addition to his history of coaching top players, Ham’s two seasons with the Lakers from 2011 to 2013 were also a factor in his appointment.

While no official announcement has been made about Ham’s appointment as head coach, Lakers player LeBron James took to Twitter to express his satisfaction with Ham’s selection as head coach.

Milwaukee Bucks star and former NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo also expressed his well wishes for Ham, stating, “I’m so happy for him. He’s the right fit for them. He keeps it real with you. No BS at all. It’s about damn time. He deserves it more than anyone.”

One of three finalists in the hiring process, Ham and fellow finalist Terry Stotts were the only candidates who were invited to participate in a final interview with Lakers management. Prior to his coaching career, Ham played eight seasons in the NBA, winning the NBA Championship in 2004 with the Detroit Pistons.
