Liverpool already has a scary squad, but the Premier League giants might be even stronger in the summer. According to The Athletic, Liverpool is plotting transfer moves for Borussia Dortmund’s winger Jadon Sancho and RB Leipzig’s striker Timo Werner.

The Athletic reports that Liverpool’s boss Jurgen Klopp admires the young Bundesliga duo for some time and has now identified them as his prime transfer targets when the European transfer window opens.

The moves would come with a big price tag, as Sancho alone is valued close to $140 million by Dortmund. Werner’s price tag is a lot more approachable thanks to his $60 million release clause.

The Athletic adds that according to the sources close to the club, the move for both players doesn’t seem realistic unless one part of Liverpool’s deadly trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohammed Salah, decides to leave the club.

Finally, if forced to choose, Klopp would prefer to get Timo Werner rather than Jadon Sancho. Werner, who scored 21 goals and dished seven assists this season in the Bundesliga, seems like a better fit for Liverpool’s current squad.

Sancho, on the other side, is similar to Salah and Mane, so plugging him in immediately would be a bit challenging if both players remain. The Englishman, who is also pursued by Manchester United and Chelsea, scored 14 goals and added 15 assists in 23 games in the league this season.
