Detroit Lions’ T.J. Hockenson still hasn’t shaken off the ankle injury that cut his rookie season short last year. The 23-year-old tight end told reporters earlier this week that he is still recovering and is “still not quite 100 percent” just yet.

Hockenson got injured in a Thanksgiving game against Chicago Bears and was placed on injured reserve in early December. Although it was expected that he recovers in time for training camp, that isn’t the case.

According to Hockenson, he is still feeling the consequences of the injury, and this has been an issue for him this offseason. However, the 2019’s first-round pick is still “running around and trying to push forward.”

The Detroit Lions spent a No.8 pick on T.J. Hockenson last year, hoping he will bring them stability on the tight end position. Things, however, didn’t work out that way so far. While Hockenson showed his potential in his debut NFL game, getting 131 yards and a touchdown, the rest of his rookie campaign was much more disappointing. In the remaining 11 games, he only managed 236 receiving yards and a TD before being sidelined.
