Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff put on a stellar performance in a 29-42 win over the Seattle Seahawks that saw him throw a perfect game and set an NFL record.
Goff attempted 18 passes against the Seahawks and completed every one of them. By doing so, he surpassed the previous record held by Hall of Famer Kurt Warner. In 2005, while with the Arizona Cardinals, Warner was 10 out of 10 in a win over the Houston Texans.
Goff finished the game with 292 yards, two passing touchdowns, and a QBR of 155.8. He also added a receiving touchdown, courtesy of wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown on a trick play.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Goff said that he doesn’t remember ever throwing a perfect game at any level.
“I don’t think I’ve ever done it,” said Goff. I knew I did it in the first half last week, so I was aware of it then. And I was kind of aware of it today, about the middle of the third quarter.”
According to Goff, he believed his perfect game was spoiled after an incompletion that resulted in offensive pass interference.
“I was like, ‘Does that count?’ I didn’t know if that counted or not. But yeah, it’s a good day,” he added.
Throughout the first four weeks of the 2024 season, Goff is completing 71% of his passes, the best mark of his career. He also has 1,015 passing yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions.
