It didn’t take long for Detroit Lions to move on from veteran running back C.J. Anderson. The team announced on Tuesday that they have released Anderson while picking up RB Paul Perkins from New York Giants via waivers.

Anderson ends his stint in Detroit after just two games, in which he had 16 carries and rushed for 43 yards.

Lions picked up Anderson in April, signing him to a one-year deal after his impressive run with the Los Angeles Rams in the previous season. He played five games with the Rams in regular season and playoffs in 2018, stepping in for injured Todd Gurley, and had 488 rushing yards and four touchdowns during that stretch.

C.J. Anderson spent the majority of his professional career with Denver Broncos, who signed him as an undrafted free agent back in 2013. His best season in Denver came in 2017 when he started all 16 games and rushed for 1,007 yards and three touchdowns while adding 28 receptions for 224 yards and one touchdown. Anderson also spent time with Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders.
