Los Angeles LakersLakers’ superstar LeBron James added another record to his resume in a 113-100 win over the Sacramento Kings. He became the player with the most minutes played in NBA history.

Currently in his 22nd season in the league, James has now played a total of 57,471 regular-season minutes. Doing so, he jumped over Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was previously the leader with 57,446 minutes played.

“It’s a pretty cool honor, obviously, anytime I’m linked with some of the greats that have ever played this game,” James said of his achievement. “I’ve been available to my teammates. I’ve been able to do this at a high level for over two decades. And to continue to put myself in record books in this game of basketball that I love so much and in the best league in the world is pretty cool, and it’s very humbling.”

The oldest active NBA player at the moment at the age of 39, James has entered the 2024-25 season with a goal of playing all 82 regular-season games. He previously only achieved this mark during the 2017-18 campaign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

While he ended up playing 23 consecutive games to start the season, James was forced to take an eight-game break in early December due to left foot injury. He is currently averaging 22.6 points per game, his fewest since rookie year, alongside 7.9 rebounds and 9.0 assists. The Lakers are seventh in the Western conference with 15-12 record.
