Tinseltown finally found itself the biggest star of all: LeBron James officially signed with the Lakers!

Everything James has been, the Lakers want. With the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers, James featured in the last eight NBA finals. Meanwhile, his three wins put the Lakers missing the last five seasons’ playoffs to shame.

The Lakers confirmed the signing on Twitter, capturing the moment for posterity:

The Lakers President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson wasted no time in justifying the $153.3m James will be paid over the next four years. “LeBron is special,” he told the Lakers official website.

“He is the best player in the world. He loves to compete and is an awesome leader who is about winning and making sure that his teammates are successful.”

The Lakers are confident of matching the Cavs and Golden State Warriors when 2018-19 reaches the business end of the season. Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka isn’t taking success for granted, however.

“When LeBron James – a perennial NBA MVP and champion who is playing at the most astonishing levels of his career – chooses to join the Lakers, it serves as the ultimate validation for what we are building here. However, we all know that the work is not yet done. We will continue forward and do all that is necessary to achieve our shared obsession of bringing banner No. 17 to the world’s best fans – Lakers Nation.”
