Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, intends to play basketball at USC this season despite suffering a cardiac arrest back in July. This was confirmed by his father during a chat with reporters at the Los Angeles Lakers media day on Monday.

Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest during a team workout and had to undergo surgery. While many believed this would jeopardize his basketball career, LeBron revealed that his son is “doing extremely well” and is in the process of returning to action.

“Bronny is doing extremely well,” LeBron said. “He has begun his rehab process to get back on the floor this season with his teammates at USC. The successful surgery that he had … he’s on the up and up. It’s definitely a whirlwind and a lot of emotions for our family this summer, but the best thing we have is each other.”

Bronny played his high school career with Sierra Canyon, averaging 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in his senior year. He was considered a five-star recruit and received scholarship offers from all big college programs before committing to USC.

Before the cardiac arrest, Bronny was projected to be a mid-first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
