On Saturday morning LeBron James, currently the best basketball player in the world, called the U.S. President Donald Trump a “bum” via tweet. James’ tweet came after Trump withdrawn Stephen Curry’s invitation for White House visit.

In case you are unfamiliar with the story behind it, let us guide you through it. First, Stephen Curry decided he will skip the White House visit in which the NBA championship team participates every year. He explained his decision during Warriors media day on Friday by saying “[It means] that we don’t stand for basically what our president has — the things that he’s said and the things that he hasn’t said at the right times — that we won’t stand for it.” Previously, Curry’s teammates Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala also said they won’t partake in the visit.

After Curry’s comments, Donald Trump went on his Twitter account and said that invitation for Stephen Curry is withdrawn.

The Golden State Warriors didn’t take long to respond and issued an official statement on the matter.

While we intended to meet as a team at the first opportunity we had this morning to collaboratively discuss a potential visit to the White House, we accept that President Trump has made it clear that we are not invited. We believe there is nothing more American than our citizens having the right to express themselves freely on matters important to them. We’re disappointed that we did not have an opportunity during this process to share our views or have open dialogue on issues impacting our communities that we felt would be important to raise.
In lieu of a visit to the White House, we have decided that we’ll constructively use our trip to the nation’s capital in February to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion — the values that we embrace as an organization.
