The NBA All-Star Game team captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry picked out their teams and it looks like we are in for a treat. James took Kevin Durant, and surprisingly he also drafted Kyrie Irving, his former teammate from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Stephen Curry, on the other hand, picked up the league’s leading scorers, James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
As you may know, the NBA changed the format of the All-Star game this year, naming James and Curry, top vote-getters in their conferences, captains and allowing them to draft a team from a poll of starters and reserves. Unfortunately, the draft wasn’t televised and was held in private via conference call. It is believed that NBA did this in order not to hurt players’ feelings.
“The fans should have been a part of this for sure and everybody who loves the game,” – said James about the league’s decision not to televise the draft. “But it’s the first year and I think it’s going to be pretty cool going into the future.“
LeBron James got the highest number of votes and was awarded the first overall pick when drafting starters, while Stephen Curry got to pick first from the reserves poll.
