The Los Angeles Lakers announced some good news on Wednesday after the NBA’s biggest star agreed to sign a two-year contract extension worth $85 million, keeping him in Tinseltown through the 2022-23 season.

LeBron James, whose previous contract with the Lakers was set to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming season, instead committed to spending the next three seasons in LA.

The former Cavaliers and Heat star, who signed with the Lakers as a free agent in the summer of 2018, impressed everyone once again when he helped the Lakers win another NBA title in 2020.

The Ohio native is clearly comfortable in Los Angeles playing alongside Anthony Davis, who also agreed to a new five-year deal with the Lakers.

LeBron maintained his consistent excellence in the 2019-20 season with the Lakers, being named an NBA All-Star for the fifteenth consecutive season—while averaging 25.3 points, 10.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game.

James’ new deal with the Lakers will mean that he will spend his twentieth season in the league with Los Angeles at the age of 38.

The 6’8″ superstar seems to be at no risk of slowing down, making his extension with the Lakers seem like the best possible news for the team.
