After working out for Seattle Seahawks earlier this month, linebacker Erik Walden has managed to secure himself a deal with the team on Wednesday. The news was first reported by ESPN‘s Adam Schefter.

Seahawks will be Walden’s seventh team since he was drafted in the sixth round of 2008 NFL Draft by Dallas Cowboys. He also played for Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts and previously was part of the Green Bay Packers squad that won the Super Bowl in 2010 season. He spent 2017 with Tennessee Titans, playing in all 16 games of the regular season.

Erik Walden NFL career stats include 356 tackles, 36.0 sacks, two interceptions and one defensive touchdown.

By adding Walden and his ability to get to opponent’s quarterback, Seattle Seahawks are reinforcing their pass rush, which is considered the weakest part of their game. It also doesn’t help that defensive end Dion Jordan is currently on physically unable to perform list due to issues with his leg. Jordan’s status is still unclear and he might not be ready for Week 1.

He’s making progress. He’s making progress but it’s still a while, it’s still probably three weeks before we make an assessment,” – said Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll of Jordan. “It’s probably that last week of preseason when we’ll try to see if we can push for that and see how that goes. That’s what we’d like to get done if we could.”
