Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez is staying with Inter Milan despite the strong interest from La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. This was confirmed to Tuttomercato by Martinez’s agent Beto Yaque.
Martinez was linked with Barcelona for the better part of the year, but the Spanish club couldn’t execute the transfer due to Inter’s high price demands. In the meantime, Real also joined in the pursuit, but they also haven’t had much success in luring the 23-year-old striker from Guiseppe Meazza.
While both clubs remain interested, it appears that Martinez accepted the reality of staying in Italy.
“There is nothing with Real Madrid and Barcelona. Lautaro is staying here at Inter,” said Yaque.
When asked to comment about a recent visit of Martinez’s entourage to Inter’s headquarters, which many connected to transfer talk, Yaque explained that there was no special reason for it. “It was just a courtesy visit, that is all,” he added.
Lautaro Martinez enjoyed a breakthrough season during 2019/20, scoring 21 goals in all competitions. He previously joined Inter in 2018, coming from Primera Division side Racing Club.
