Starting the 2023 season, the United States will have three races on the Formula 1 calendar. Miami and Austin will be joined by Las Vegas, which is set to host its first F1 circuit since 1982.

The Las Vegas circuit will take place at the iconic Las Vegas Strip on a 3.8 miles track with 14 turns and three straights. According to the F1’s statement, the race will be a night event.

Formula 1 also announced that the circuit is already scheduled for Saturday in November 2023 but didn’t specify the date. Although F1 races are held on Sundays, the decision to move the one in Las Vegas to Saturday makes sense. The racing competition will be able to secure a primetime slot and won’t have to compete with NFL games for viewership.

“This is an incredible moment for Formula 1 that demonstrates the huge appeal and growth of our sport with a third race in the US,” said F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali. “Las Vegas is a destination known around the world for its excitement, hospitality, thrills, and of course, the famous Strip.”

The addition of the Las Vegas race won’t be the only change to the F1 calendar for 2023. It was previously announced that the Chinese Grand Prix is returning after a three-year hiatus.
