New England Patriots won’t be having a perfect season in 2019. After an 8-0 start, Patriots met their match on Sunday night, when they suffered a 37-20 defeat to Baltimore Ravens. The only remaining undefeated team in NFL are San Francisco 49ers.

This was the Pats’ first loss Week 15 of the 2018 NFL season when they were beaten by Pittsburgh Steelers. Following that game, New England embarked on a 16-win streak, including the postseason.

New England fell behind early in the game and never managed to recover. They especially had problems with stopping Ravens’ running game, giving up season-high 155 rushing yards in the first half. It was also the first time this season that Patriots gave up four offensive touchdowns in one game.

Baltimore was powered by their second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson, who became the youngest QB to defeat a team with 8-0 or better record. Jackson completed 17 out of 23 passes he attempted, throwing for 163 yards with one touchdown. He also added 61 rushing yards and two rushing TDs.

Running back Mark Ingram also had a great night, having 116 yards on 15 carries.

“We knew they had one of the best running attacks in the NFL this year and they were able to really run the ball, we struggled stopping the run, and it pretty much gave them control of the game,” – said Pats’ Pro Bowl safety Devin McCourty after the game. “They were able to play it on their terms, and that’s what hurt us the most.”

Ravens now sit comfortably at the top of AFC North with a 6-2 record. They face winless Cincinnati Bengals next week.

Pats, on the other hand, have a bye in Week 10 before having another tough opponent in Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11.
