The Los Angeles Lakers remain confident in star player Anthony Davis’ ability to return to action within the next week as he continues to recover from a foot stress injury. The team explained that the All-Star power forward is continuing to make progress in his recovery, with much of the pain in his right foot being alleviated along the way.

Having been unable to play for the Lakers since mid-December as a result of his injury setback, Davis has reportedly been ramping up his physical activity lately, however, this remains to a limited extent. Lakers head coach Darvin Ham commented on Thursday that Davis is “progressing really, really, really well.”

Prior to his injury, Davis had been a standout performer for the Lakers this season, sparking a career resurgence by averaging 27.4 points on a career-best 59.4% from the field, 12.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.3 steals.

13th in the Western Conference with 20-25, the Lakers are just two games away from a playoff spot. They are set to embark on a five-game road trip starting in Boston on January 28.
