LAFC are in advanced talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, sources revealed on Thursday. The former Spurs captain, who is in the last year of his contract, has not played a single minute of the current season under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou, who was appointed Spurs coach ahead of the current season, has favored Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, whom he signed from Empoli during the summer for £17.2 million ($21.9m). This brings an end to Lloris’s long-standing position as the Spurs’ number one shot-stopper, soon establishing himself as the first-choice keeper following his arrival at the club in 2012.

Although the French 2018 World Cup winner received offers to leave the club from Lazio, Nice, and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, he decided to remain at Spurs in the hopes of clinching a spot in the starting lineup. Lloris was appointed Spurs captain in the 2015-16 season before Postecoglou replaced him with Son Heung-Min this season.
