The Los Angeles Rams cornerback Darious Williams is set to remain sidelined until further notice, head coach Sean McVay confirmed, explaining that the team will take Williams’ hamstring injury “one week at a time”. Williams was injured during the final play of the Rams’ team practice on Thursday.
McVay assured that the Rams will be smart about the way they approach Williams’ rehabilitation, explaining that the team would not rush him back to action despite his importance in the cornerback role. In response, the team signed Jerry Jacobs in order to alleviate the workload of the Rams’ other cornerbacks during Williams’ absence.
“When you’re talking about those types of positions, it can be really tricky,” McVay admitted. “We are definitely not going to rush him back. Here’s the good thing: We’re about 40-plus days out from being able to play Detroit … but hopefully we’ll just take it a little bit at a time.”
Williams proved to be one of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ key defensemen last season, making 53 tackles, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions. The Jaguars finished second in the AFC South, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot.
