La Liga president Javier Tebas revealed that he believes that it is now “practically impossible” for FC Barcelona to make any transfers this summer because of the club’s precarious financial situation.

While the club parted ways with the likes of Gerard Pique who retired, Memphis Depay who joined Atletico Madrid, and Hector Bellerin who left for Sporting Club, the team remains unlikely to perform any summer signings because of the Spanish league’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

“I already announced it, and [Barca] president [Joan] Laporta will phone me and be angry,” Tebas stated at the Business Football Summit. “t is practically impossible for Barcelona to sign players in the summer. Much will have to change because, if not, the institution will be in trouble. We haven’t let FC Barcelona sign players this winter, and next summer. They won’t be able to sign players.”

Barcelona has had long-standing issues with the league over its Financial Fair Play violations. Earlier this year, La Liga refused to allow the Catalan club to join other clubs in increasing their salary cap by 15%.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
