After an outstanding 2024 regular season, LA Galaxy’s winger Gabriel Pec has won the annual MLS Newcomer of the Year Award.
Pec received 37.53% of combined votes from media, players, and clubs to receive the honor. Inter Miami’s striker Luis Suarez was second with 27.63% of all votes, while FC Cinncinati’s winger Luca Orellano received 12.53% of the votes for a third-place finish.
Gabriel Pec arrived at LA Galaxy ahead of the 2024 season in a $10 million transfer from Brazil’s Vasco de Gama. It proved to be a shrewd piece of business for the MLS side as Pec immediately made a huge impact and established himself as one of the franchise’s best players.
In 33 regular-season MLS games he played, Pec scored 16 goals and contributed with 14 assists. His 30-goal contributions are fifth-most in the league while he became only the fourth Galaxy player to reach this mark. This helped the Galaxy finish second in the Western Conference and return to MLS Cup playoffs.
Pec has also been clinical so far in the 2024 MLS Cup playoffs. He scored one goal and dished three assists as Galaxy dispatched Colorado Rapids in the first round.
